Most people who would answer the question in the title of this post will answer no. The unfortunate reality is that most who would answer the question with a no are going to a place they thought for certain they would never taste, see, hear, or feel. Either they thought they were good enough to avoid hell, or they thought they had time to flee from the flames, but they were wrong and/or they ran out of time. They were deceived into thinking their deeds or belief in a god other than the Holy Living God of the Bible would gain their way into heaven, or they thought they knew the God of Scripture and procrastinated to repent unto Christ until the day it was too late.
The truth is, they loved their sin and they loved the god they had crafted in their minds to suit their lifestyle. The Bible calls them enemies of God, lovers of unrighteousness, and lukewarm. The Apostle Paul has this to say about them:
For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things. – Philippians 3:18-19
Many of these people are professing Christians and sit on church pews each Sunday. Many listen to Contemporary Christian Music, go to Christian festivals, read Christian books (or perhaps “Christian” books), volunteer in the community, teach Sunday school, preach behind pulpits, pay tithes, read their Bibles, are right-wing conservatives or left-wing liberals, have been healed from emotional or physical ailments, claim to have healed others of such ailments, participate in Christian internet chat rooms and other social media, or perhaps some are reading this blog at this moment. Many might believe in a place called hell that burns with fire and brimstone, but they dismiss the fact or possibility that they themselves are on the very road that passes through the broad gate of eternal destruction.
Perhaps I’m speaking to you.
I invite you to take an hour of your time to watch the video below from Tim Conway (or listen here). What do you really know about hell? Who do you think really goes there? Perhaps you didn’t know, but there are many professing Christians in hell today, and there will be many who go there tomorrow. These “good people” go to the very same place that is prepared for the devil and his angels. And just as there will be no escape for them, there will be no escape for you should you go to that place you thought you never would.
May you come to an understanding of the reality of hell and who it is that goes there, and may this cause you to flee to Christ. Flee to Him, not primarily because you want to escape God’s wrath manifested in hell’s fury, but because you see the love and beauty and glory of Jesus Christ who bore God’s eternal wrath in your place.

Tim Conway talks about something very sobering towards the end of his sermon. He mentions many people who had the Gospel presented to them and they rejected it. Having rejected the Gospel, they died not long after that. I have seen this too, in street ministry, but also churches which have been called to repent. This is serious business and God is not fooling around. Example: I spent a lot of time with one drinker named Peter. He said that he even saw the love of Christ in my eyes, but he still rejected the message: one night he drown on his own vomit and he was gone. There is a tract called “The last preacher is death”. This is serious, serious stuff.
