In the following sermon, Voddie Baucham contrasts the modern gospel, which is no gospel at all, to the true Gospel that alone is the power of God unto salvation for all who believe (Romans 1:16). While the modern gospel is about man and what God can do for him, the true Gospel is about God and what He has done to bring Himself glory through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you for posting this video. Truly it is the gospel that is the power of God for salvation.

along with this, may I suggest that Christians write out their own conversion testimony, weaving into it the true gospel and biblical concepts about how the Lord sought and saved them? I have heard some doozies in this regard. I heard a woman’s testimony recently. She never used the words: believe, trust, repent, born again, saved, Jesus Christ. She included God’s name, but there was no thankfulness expressed for how He had worked in her life. She praised people, but not the Lord. Her testimony left me thinking that all she had done was trade one “lifestyle” for another one. She also said that as a brand new Christian that she asked the Christians around her “what did you give up to be here?” I never thought of being saved as primarily about “giving up” something, but more about gaining? Eternal life, a new heart, sonship, love for the Lord, His love and care, forgiveness, rescue from sin’s power and penalty, etc. etc!
