Why Christians Should NEVER Vote for Obama (or any other pro-choice/pro-abortion candidate)

Posted on September 26, 2011

Voting for pro-choice candidates, or pro-abortion candidates such as Barack Obama, should never even be an option for the born again believer.  In fact, I believe it is sin to do so.  How great a sin depends upon how informed one is in making the decision to vote for the pro-choice candidate (which will be referred to as a pro-abortion candidate for the remainder of the article).

Let it be known – there is no economic circumstance, no promise of wealth or health, no desire for justice, no racial propensity, or any other personal situation or desired future that warrants or excuses a vote for pro-abortion candidates.  Voting for these issues at the expense of the sanctity of life is nothing short of self-serving and antithetical to the Bible’s call to love others with the sacrificial love of Christ.

To borrow from a quote I used in the article Pro-Choice to Pro-Life – Lives Changed!,

To not understand is ignorance.  To willingly refuse to understand is arrogance.

Indeed, which is why it is important for you to continue reading.  If you are a professing believer who considers voting for pro-abortion candidates, this article is especially for you.  I write this in love and in hopes you would prayerfully consider the information provided that you would no longer be ignorant on the matter of abortion.  I pray this information cuts deep, and that you would not proudly refuse to understand and continue in willful disobedience against the clear directives in the Word of God to protect innocent life.

THE BIBLE, LIFE, AND ABORTION

Your hands fashioned and made me, and now you have destroyed me altogether. Remember that you have made me like clay;   and will you return me to the dust? Did you not pour me out like milk and curdle me like cheese? You clothed me with skin and flesh, and knit me together with bones and sinews. You have granted me life and steadfast love, and your care has preserved my spirit. – Job 10:8-12

Not only do we see God’s handiwork in creating us in the womb, but He also has dominion over our death.  It is God alone who has authority to create life and take it away.

From Psalm 139:13-16 we see just how special humans are as being created in the womb by the same God who created the galaxies and their stars:

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

What beautiful language to describe God’s workmanship as He created us in the secret place.  Just as God created the universe out of nothing, so to did He create our soul out of nothing.  At some point as your father’s sperm and your mother’s egg found union in the womb, God breathed your soul into existence.  It was at that moment a life was birthed, and God would continue to fearfully and wonderfully clothe you with skin and flesh, knitting you together with bones and sinews.

As God is the giver of life, how evil is it then for anyone to deliberately destroy it?  The following from Exodus 21:22-25 details how Israel was to judge a man who unintentionally took the life of an unborn baby:

When men strive together and hit a pregnant woman, so that her children come out, but there is no harm, the one who hit her shall surely be fined, as the woman’s husband shall impose on him, and he shall pay as the judges determine. But if there is harm, then you shall pay life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

Life for a life it says, how much more punishable is it then for the one who intentionally aborts a precious child in the womb?  While abortion may be legal in most countries around the world, this will not excuse the wicked on judgment day  (Exodus 23:7).  God is clear on what He thinks of such people:

There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

Of the woman who kills her baby at the abortion clinic and of the man who takes her by hand, God hates them.  This is wickedness that God abhors, and is in fact a judgment against those who do not fear the Lord and suppress the truth in their unrighteousness (Romans 1:18-32).

BARACK OBAMA AND BLACK GENOCIDE

How much more does God hate those who devise and carry out these wicked schemes to destroy life in the womb (or outside the womb in the case of Barack Obama)?  Murder is wrong because God said it is wrong, and those who invent ways of doing evil (such as abortion) are storing up wrath for themselves when God will judge the world in righteousness.

How is it then, professing Christian, that you can vote for someone like Obama who is hellbent on ensuring women continue to have the right to legally murder their babies?  Take a look at the latter link so you can see for yourself just how pro-abortion Barack Obama really is.  This can be described as nothing less than evil.  As a Christian, will you continue to vote for evil?  Can you continue to vote for Obama with the knowledge of his following address to Planned Parenthood in July 2007, outrageously opposing the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban:

There’s a lot at stake in this election, especially for our daughters. To appreciate that all you have to do is review the recent decisions handed down by the Supreme Court of the United States…For the first time in Gonzales versus Carhart, the Supreme Court held—upheld a federal ban on abortions with criminal penalties for doctors…Some people argue that the federal ban on abortion was just an isolated effort aimed at one medical procedure—that it’s not part of a concerted effort to roll back the hard-won rights of American women. That presumption is also wrong (source).

This is the man you may have voted for in 2008, and this is the man who may be a recipient of your support in 2012.  May it not be!  As Voddie Baucham asserts in this article from 2008, “Barack Obama is the most pro-abortion candidate ever to run for President.”  In response to the startling statistic that twenty-five major American urban cities having reported a higher abortion rate than live birth rate among African-American communities, Baucham reacts:

This is absolutely astonishing!  The only thing more astonishing is the fact that black clergymen in Philadelphia are supporting Mr. Obama.  Then there is the consistent mantra from black supporters of America’s first “bi-racial” candidate…  “I’m just happy to see a black man in this position.”  Amazing!  That’s like Hitler hiring a Jewish doctor (on his father’s side) to run the human experiments at Dachau and hearing the Jewish prisoners hail the fact that ‘one of their own’ has ascended to such great heights in the Nazi regime.

It is incredibly ironic that so many in the African-American community, many professing Christians, have so blindly supported Barack Obama.  Abortion in the black community can be described as nothing less than Black Genocide with its abortuaries victimizing urban neighborhoods.  In 2006, the abortion rate among black women was over 3.5 times greater than white women (source).  To this atrocity, John Piper noted in 2007,

The de facto effect (I don’t call it the main cause, but net effect) of putting abortion clinics in the urban centers is that the abortion of Hispanic and Black babies is more than double their percentage of the population. Every day 1,300 black babies are killed in America. Seven hundred Hispanic babies die every day from abortion. Call this what you will—when the slaughter has an ethnic face and the percentages are double that of the white community and the killers are almost all white, something is going on here that ought to make the lovers of racial equality and racial harmony wake up (source).

Concluding the 2-hour documentary, Abortion: Black Genocide in 21st Century America, Rev. John Hunter warned his congregation in the following video clip:

Whether black, white, yellow, or brown, abortion is an evil institution that no Christian should support in any degree, including voting for candidates who support it and fight to keep it legal.  As Tony Miano says, “Repent. If you don’t repent, then you are co-conspirators and accomplices to the murder of the unborn” (source).

THE REALITY OF ABORTION

If the reality of these evil acts have not struck you, perhaps the following illustrations will from www.nucleusinc.com.  Please see the medical illustrations of a suction curettage or vacuum aspiration abortion (D & C abortion) as well as a dilation and evacuation abortion (D & E abortion) explained in detail at Abort73.

Language cannot communicate the evil behind these heinous acts.  Viewing these illustrations should break you and make you fall on your knees for having supported any pro-abortion candidate in the past and/or having the intention to do so in the future.  It should also compel pro-lifers to join me in spreading the news about the masterpiece documentary on abortion released today from Living Waters titled, 180.

180 – HEART CHANGER

Whether you are pro-choice, have voted for pro-choice candidates, or are pro-life, this is a must-see documentary.  Living Waters has developed the website, Heart Changer, where the documentary can be viewed in addition to telling the producers your story of doing a “180”.  You can also learn how you can get involved in spreading the word to your friends, family, and strangers.  Additionally, the website provides resources for support if you or a loved one are pregnant with a child.

I just purchased 10 copies for $10 and will be giving them to family members.  As you know, family is the most difficult group to share the Gospel with, so I’m hoping this Gospel-centered film will break the ice with some in my family that I would have opportunity to share the love of Christ with them.  Through The Speak:Truth Project, we also hope to purchase DVDs to hand out during our weekly outreaches, and I will be asking my church if they would offer a viewing to our congregation.

If you have had an abortion or have supported a woman in her choice to have an abortion, please know there is forgiveness in the Lord Jesus Christ.  There is no crime you have ever committed against our Holy God that He cannot forgive.  Even though God hates the wicked, He also loves the wicked for whom He sent His only Son to die.  The Bible says that God demonstrated His love toward us that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).  The Bible also says “The LORD is gracious and merciful,  slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love” (Psalm 145:8). If you would like to learn more about God’s forgiveness for the contrite heart and how you can know this gracious and merciful Savior, please see Eternal Life.

If this article and/or the 180 movie on the American Holocaust has impacted you, I would like to hear from you as well.  Please feel free to leave a comment or send me a private message.  May the Lord Jesus Christ find you in His grace as you conform to the Father’s will.
