Gendercide: The War on Baby Girls

Furious – no other word can explain what I am feeling after watching the following four videos showing the willingness of Planned Parenthood to assist women to end the life of their unborn child based on the sex of the baby alone. Just yesterday, the Obama White House issued their opposition of banning this practice as a bill failed to pass the House of Representatives to ban sex-selective abortions. According to Lifesite News, the bill would have made it

a federal offense to knowingly perform a sex-selection abortion or coerce a woman into such a procedure, or to transport a woman across state lines or into the United States to obtain a sex-selection abortion.

What’s worse, most of these abortions do not take place until the second trimester as ultrasound or genetic testing is performed to determine the gender of the baby (see illustrations of  D&E abortion at 14 weeks and D&E abortion at 23 weeks).

But let’s put this into perspective. We should certainly be outraged that this is legal in America. We should be outraged that Planned Parenthood offers this kind of service to women. We should also be outraged that our president is the most pro-abortion president this nation has ever selected as the leader of the free world, and that President Obama is a staunch supporter of Planned Parenthood. But what of the women (and men) in America who choose themselves to murder their own flesh and blood strictly because they prefer a boy over a girl or vice versa? What of the men and women who choose to murder their own children period, regardless of the reason why?

Let us also put into perspective our nation is willing to selectively choose when it is OK to murder a baby in the womb. For instance, should a bill like this become law in the future, thus federally banning sex-selection abortion, what the United States of America would be saying is that it is illegal to murder based on gender preference, but all other decisions to abort one’s child is legal. Or another example, the following House Bill 215 was passed as law in North Carolina in 2011:

AN ACT TO CREATE CRIMINAL OFFENSES FOR ACTS THAT CAUSE THE DEATH OR INJURY OF AN UNBORN CHILD OR ARE COMMITTED AGAINST A PREGNANT WOMAN, AND TO PROVIDE THAT THE ACT SHALL BE ENTITLED “THE UNBORN VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE ACT/ETHEN’S LAW.

The law goes on to say (emphasis mine),

A person who UNLAWFULLY causes the death of an unborn CHILD is guilty of the separate offense of MURDER of an unborn CHILD…

There are two ways to look at this:

1. All abortionists and women aborting their babies are guilty of murdering their “unborn child”.
2. They are suggesting murdering “unborn child[ren]” is lawful in some cases.

So the law is actually saying it is legal to murder an unborn child, which is a person according to its own definition:

“unborn child” means a member of the species homo sapiens, at any stage of development, who is carried in the womb.

In North Carolina’s attempt to be lawful, they have virtually determined it legal to murder unborn children. This is lawlessness.

These two examples (the attempt to make sex-selection abortion illegal and criminalizing only some instances of murdering unborn children) prove the foolishness of man and the foolishness of compromised incrementalism.

While America continues to flounder and make excuses to continue the murder of over 1.2 million babies per year, Christians have a responsibility to fight for the lives of the unborn. Proverbs 31:8-9 says,

Open your mouth for the speechless, In the cause of all who are appointed to die. Open your mouth, judge righteously, And plead the cause of the poor and needy.

This, of course, is specifically referring to the king to be compassionate toward the weak, but there can be no doubt that the general idea for the righteous to speak against evil to protect the lives of the speechless cannot and should not also be applied to Christians defending life.

It is not enough for you to have your pro-life opinion about abortion, or to vote conservatively against pro-abortion candidates, or to argue endlessly about abortion with pro-abortion people on the internet. There must be more, or your opinion will be all you have, your vote will continue to be meaningless, and you will continue to argue in vain with hardened hearts.

As mentioned many times on this blog, abortion is a gospel issue. You must get into real action if abortion is ever to end in this nation, and the only way for that to happen is for hearts to change. There are many ways for you to do your duty as a Christian to “open your mouth for the speechless, In the cause of all who are appointed to die.” Here are just a few examples:

• Find the local abortion clinic in your town and put your boots on the sidewalks outside of these places of death where you can pray and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ while pleading with parents to not murder their child.
• Support gospel-centered pro-life ministries prayerfully and financially who are on the front lines every day in the fight to save souls and lives at abortion mills.
• Get your church involved to minister to parents who have chosen life for their baby through continued evangelizing, discipleship of new believers, and meeting tangible needs of mother and baby.

The following videos are heartbreaking. May they compel you to not primarily wage the war for life in the voting booth or hope for favorable court decisions, but to get into the war yourself personally on the front lines or faithfully support those who are. May we see the murder of the unborn criminalized in America, not just criminalizing “unlawful  causes of death of a child” or murder based on gender preference, but for any reason, any time. That day will only come when hearts are changed, and hearts will only be changed when the Body of Christ decides to wake up.
